The Senate guarantee council has approved a resolution which provides for the restoration of the cut annuities (in 2018, on a proposal from the 5 Star Movement) for former senators.
These are those relating to before 2012 when, adapting to the pension reform, it was decided that the contributory and no longer salary system should also be applied to parliamentarians.
Voting in favor were the president of the guarantee council Luigi Vitalia (Forza Italia, whose vote is worth double) and the former M5S Ugo Grassi. Alberto Balboni (FdI) and Pasquale Pepe (Lega) voted against, while Pd Senator Valeria Valente abstained. The measure thus passed by 3 votes to 2.
