Lecce has sacked coach Roberto D'Aversa.

«After the events that occurred at the end of the Lecce-Verona match, Us Lecce announces that it has relieved coach Roberto D'Aversa of his duties. Thanks go to the coach and his staff for the work done", we read on the Apulian club's website.

The coach is paying for the trend of negative results which has brought the Salento team into a very dangerous area of the standings, after a start to the season which gave rise to hopes of a peaceful salvation. But, as can be seen from the club's press release, he was also punished for the unacceptable behavior in yesterday's agitated post-match when, at the end of the home match lost against Verona, he headbutted the Scala striker Thomas Henry.

At the moment, among the most popular names to replace him is Leonardo Semplici, the architect of an unexpected salvation in Cagliari when he took over from Eusebio Di Francesco in the race.
