A really pleasant evening, cultural-musical-identity, yesterday's, organized in the council hall, for the presentation of the book of poems in Maddalena (isulanu), "Tegghj and afangtu di inchitudes", published by Paolo Sorba.
The poems, whose author is Giancarlo Tusceri, were read by Marcello Sorba, Alina Maiore and by the author himself, and some of them interpreted in song and music by the I Mogan ensemble. Giancarlo Tusceri, with "Tegghj", won the third edition of the "Biennale Michelangelo Pira Literary Award" in 1990 , with the anthology printed the following year by the Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena.
«Man, and above all the man of the islands - this was the motivation of the jury presided over by Antonio Romagnino - is earth and rock. The poet starts from this central metaphor to free himself from the temptation of literary stereotypes, also thanks to the use of a marginal language with particular sonorities. His discourse is characterized as much by the resentful originality of the themes, as by the skilful orchestration of obscure timbral and conceptual dissonances».
The new publication, entitled "Tegghj e unfangtu di inchitudini" (Slabs smoothed by the wind and a bundle of restlessness), is 208 pages long and contains about seventy poems - forty of which are unpublished ("Afangttu di inchitudini"), all in the island with the text in Italian on the side.
With this publication, said the presenter of the evening, Guido Baffigo, former head teacher of the Nautical Institute of La Maddalena and other Gallura high schools, «we understand the importance of the isulanu, of our dialect, which is an expression of our roots , fertile for our minds and for our feelings. Our isulanu finds in poetry and prose a safe harbor where he can shelter from the ravages of time but from which he can also set sail towards the new generations".
Giancarlo Tusceri, journalist and writer, recalled Professor Baffigo, «has to his credit 38 publications on history and fiction, poetry and linguistics. Winner of the 15 most important literature in Sardinian, he brought the island's dialect to the highest levels». He received the first prize for the best Sardinian novel, the “Romangia” prize with “L'isuli du sprafundu”, the subject of a degree thesis, and the Posada with “Di stenciu a manu mancina”. Playwright in isulanu, Tusceri has directed the Elicriso Theater Collective since 1975, and has staged 12 of his comedies, including the duly authorized translation of "Filumena Martorano" which is also the subject of a degree thesis. For the theater Giancarlo Tusceri won the first Biennial Prize for Dramaturgy in Sassari in 2019 with translation and adaptations of "Edera" by Grazia Deledda.
«For the successes achieved by Giancarlo Tusceri and also thanks to the interest of the councilor for Culture and Tourism, Gianvincenzo Belli - recalled Guido Baffigo - the isulanu was recognized by the Sardinia Region as a Sardinian variant to be protected, like Catalan, of the Tabarchino and Castellanese. For these merits Giancarlo Tusceri was included in the special Commission to graphically unify the Gallurese».
