Kidnapping for the purpose of extortion : this is the serious charge for which three men originally from Galtellì - Dario Solinas (born in 1993) and his brothers Davide (1993, already known to the police) and Marco Manca (1991) - spontaneously turned themselves in to the Carabinieri in Alghero last Tuesday , after the final sentence of 9 years and 1 day of imprisonment issued by the Attorney General's Office at the Court of Appeal of Milan. The three were then transferred to the Sassari prison, where they will serve their sentences.
The facts
The episode dates back to April 20, 2023 and has its roots in an alleged scam suffered by the three Sardinians, linked to a sale of cryptocurrencies and luxury watches purchased in Switzerland , never paid for according to what they claimed. Determined to "avenge" the wrong and obtain compensation, the three organized a punitive expedition from Galtellì to Milan.
Once they arrived in the Lombard capital, they rented a room in a bed and breakfast on Via Magolfa, near the Navigli, and lured three brothers living in the province of Milan, one of whom was a minor, with an excuse. Once inside, they attacked them, robbed them of about two thousand euros, tied them up with tape, beat them and started the extortion phase of the plan: having obtained a smartphone, they contacted the parents of the three young people by phone, threatening them and asking for 120 thousand euros in bitcoin for the release of their children.
The Carabinieri blitz
The parents, instead of giving in to the blackmail, immediately contacted the Carabinieri of Nerviano, starting the investigation. In a short time, thanks to the traces left by the phone calls, the military managed to locate the apartment and intervene. Shortly before midnight, the Carabinieri broke into the bed and breakfast, freed the hostages and arrested the three kidnappers red-handed, who were then transferred to the prison of San Vittore.
The victims, taken to the hospital in Legnano, suffered non-serious injuries, which will heal in three to seven days.
The sentence and the surrender
After the trial and final conviction, the three defendants remained at liberty, but were under close monitoring by the police. Last Tuesday, deciding not to evade justice, Solinas and the Manca brothers spontaneously showed up at the Carabinieri barracks in Alghero, where the prison order was carried out.
They are now in the Sassari prison, where they will serve their sentences for what investigators have defined as a particularly violent, lightning-fast kidnapping, organized with coldness and determination.
