The general management of Banco di Sardegna is also opening its historic building in Sassari to the public this year for the event “È cultura” (formerly “Invito a Palazzo”), promoted by the Italian Banking Association.

The appointment is for tomorrow, from 10 to 19: visitors will have the opportunity to admire the art collections exhibited in the prestigious building in Piazzetta Banco di Sardegna, designed by engineer Bruno Cipelli and built in 1929, which houses works by the most representative Sardinian artists, including Giuseppe Biasi, Antonio Corriga, Carmelo Floris, Giovanni Ciusa Romagna, Mario Delitala, Pietro Antonio Manca.

The palace also houses a collection of 42 works by Mario Sironi, one of the main Italian figurative artists of the twentieth century, with the preparatory painting for the fresco Allegory of Work, the "Sardinian" works by the Argentine painter Héctor Nava, the collection of historical geographical maps of Sardinia from the 16th to the mid-19th century, sacred and profane silver and precious objects, the numismatic collection, the dolls in Sardinian costume by the Ruiu sisters and the documents from the historical archive of the Bank of Sardinia.

For the occasion, the Siglienti room will be enriched with a new installation, with the exhibition Masters and Students, a dialogue between generations and collections: works created by the masters, teachers and students of the Art Institute will be selected, creating a fascinating combination of past and present. The works of the Banco di Sardegna collection will enter into dialogue with some works of the Filippo Figari Art High School of Sassari, inspired by the history of the school. From the first directors such as Filippo Figari and Mauro Manca, to teachers such as Eugenio Tavolara, Stanis Dessy and Gavino Tilocca, up to the students who became masters outside the classrooms such as Costantino Spada. On the ground floor, a space dedicated to documents will be set up that tell the story of the artists of the collection through school documents.

Part of the exhibition will be dedicated to the creations of today's outstanding students, awarded in national competitions and active in the design and execution of installations and works of public art. As per tradition, they will be the ones to guide the visits to the exhibition routes.
