On Moroccan clay, the tennis player from Alghero (1128 in the world rankings) made it through the qualifiers (where he was seeded number 4), taking advantage of a bye on his debut and first beating the Egyptian Karim El Feky (1877 Atp) 6 -1, 6-3 and then the French Sven Corbinais (1523) 6-2, 7-5.

In the main draw, Carboni was stopped 7-5, 6-0 on his debut by the Spaniard Alejandro Manzanera Pertusa, number 5 in seeding and 627 in the world.
