Some wounds, probably caused by a cutting weapon, were found on the body of Silvana La Rocca, the 73-year-old retired teacher found dead last night in the garden of her home in Marina di Leporano (Taranto).

The alarm was reportedly raised by a son of the woman, of whom she had not heard for hours. The prosecutor on duty Salvatore Colella will entrust the autopsy to clarify the nature of the injuries. At the moment, no leads are being ruled out, including that of murder.

The woman was a widow and lived alone in the house. Her husband, a former skilled worker at Ilva, died in November 2002 in an accident at work.

There was also an explosion in the apartment where the 73-year-old lived. In addition to the Carabinieri, the fire brigade intervened on site to secure the area. The investigators in charge of the investigation are examining the images from some video surveillance cameras in the area.
