Woman and child found dead in a pond: prosecutor's office investigates murder

The Rovigo Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating for murder the case of the woman and her one-year-old child found dead yesterday in an artificial lake in Castelguglielmo , in the Rovigo area.
The investigation is against unknown persons and is a necessary step to proceed with all the necessary investigations. Investigators are currently not ruling out any possibility, including that of a murder-suicide.
The victims are a mother and son of Chinese origin. She was 39 years old, and the child had turned one last December. Both lived in Castelguglielmo. Witnesses reported seeing them yesterday, early afternoon, near the lake. The woman was pushing a stroller, which she then left there a few steps from the water where they were both found dead.
A passerby noticed the bodies in the early afternoon and immediately raised the alarm. Further information on the cause of death will come from the autopsy, scheduled for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Carabinieri are interviewing witnesses to reconstruct what happened.
