The mandatory use of interdistrict digital infrastructure for wiretapping by public prosecutor's offices has been postponed by one year.

Current legislation required these infrastructures to be used for wiretapping in criminal proceedings filed after December 31, 2025: the new deadline has now been postponed to December 31, 2026.

The extension is included in the draft Milleproroghe decree. In the document, the measure is highlighted in yellow, indicating that it may still be subject to further evaluation.

The interdistrict digital infrastructures, as envisaged in the original text of the law, are designed to ensure "the highest and most uniform levels of security, technological updating, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and energy savings for information systems" used for wiretapping activities carried out by the various public prosecutor's offices.
