“Connecting”. This is the message that is appearing in the Whatsapp chats of many Italian users, struggling with the downtime of the instant messaging app.

As reported by the Downdetector website, which monitors the progress and performance of the main social networks and apps, the service is temporarily out of service. Minute after minute, the reports of worried users have grown dramatically, quickly reaching the threshold of 60 thousand.

The luckiest ones were able to reconnect almost immediately. Others are still cut off from Meta's service.
