A 28-year-old Peruvian man drowned last night in Milan after diving with some friends into the Romano public swimming pool .

Emergency medical personnel responded immediately, but were unable to save the young man. Police officers were also on the scene.

The incident occurred around 11pm, when the facility was closed to the public .

Investigations underway.
