Proceedings are underway for a suspected homicide charge following the discovery of the body of a young man with a gunshot wound to the temple this afternoon in Mira (Venice), in the hamlet of Malcontenta, a short distance from the Venetian lagoon.

The area where the body was found is a few kilometers from the Porto Marghera industrial area and the Fusina terminal, on a large, uncultivated farmland, far from any buildings. No firearms were found, and one possible hypothesis is that the young man—perhaps an Eastern European citizen—may have been the victim of a settling of scores.

A passerby noticed the body and alerted the police. The body was found with its clothes on and lying on its side.

The investigation is continuing even after dark, in the presence of the magistrate on duty, Deputy Prosecutor Christian Del Turco. The autopsy is expected to be performed on Friday, January 2nd.
