She wanted to report her ex-husband's violence . Yet she failed in her attempt, blocked by police officers who allegedly sent her home three times. It happened in Corato, in the Bari area. Now the two officers on duty at the police station are accused of failure to perform official duties, because they allegedly did not act promptly to the victim's requests for help.
According to some local newspapers, the woman on two occasions in August last year asked to record her words against her ex, who, having been ordered not to approach her, had violated the order. On two occasions, the officers told her to come back in the following days because the staff at the complaints office was already busy , or because complaints could be filed by 1 pm .
But, according to the Trani Prosecutor's Office, instead, there are no provisions in the police station related to times for filing complaints or reports. On another occasion, however, the woman was unable to supplement the complaint because the police officer who had compiled the report was not on duty. And no one could replace him.
Hence the decision of the Prosecutor's Office to clarify what happened and ascertain any irregularities in the intervention, in light of what is provided for by the Red Code.
