«Article 30 of the Constitution establishes that parents have the right and duty to educate their children» and for this reason «the expansion of the educational offer on sexuality requires prior written consent from the parents, making known what the educational material is, the purposes and the methods of carrying out the activities produced ».
Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara says : "Schools must provide an alternative educational activity if parents refuse consent. The providers must have scientific and academic professionalism. For elementary schools, the topics of sexuality are only those contained in the national programs."
"We, acting under the banner of the value of transparency, intend to strengthen the alliance between schools and families as we did with the circular on homework. We want to give substance to the educational pact. Parents must be aware of the educational initiatives that are discussed in class, such as sexuality ," explained Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara at the end of the Council of Ministers.
