A young man accused of being a serial sexual attacker was subjected to a detention order by the police, issued by the Ferrara Prosecutor's Office. This is a twenty-year-old foreigner who, between the end of June and the first week of July, was responsible for three episodes of sexual violence against women who were approached on the street while riding a bike. The provision summarizes the results of an investigation by the Police Headquarters' flying squad, following an attack suffered by a twenty-year-old on 19 June, in via Rampari San Paolo.
On that occasion, the victim was approached by a black man wearing a hood and riding a bicycle , who heavily harassed her. The woman fell, suffering various bruises, but managed to ask for help, while the attacker fled before the police arrived, alerted by some residents.
Two weeks later, two other similar episodes, with the same modus operandi: sighting of women alone in isolated streets and in the late evening, approach on a bicycle, assault with sexual harassment and escape.
Like on the night of July 4th, a girl was the victim while she was returning home: she was walking along a street in the center when she was attacked from behind. Also in this case the screams interrupted the action and made the young man run away. On July 6, another girl who was returning was approached from behind in the same way.
A short time later, the attacker also blocked the path of another woman who was walking her dogs, preventing her from continuing and insistently asking her to have sexual intercourse. Once again the cries for help made him give up. Shortly afterwards he was stopped and checked by a police car and, thanks to the victim's statements, reported for private violence and harassment. Thus there was a turning point for the investigations: photographic surveys were carried out on his clothing and bike, while photos were found on his mobile phone that portray him wearing clothing compatible with those worn during some of the disputed episodes.
The comparisons with the videos extrapolated from the video surveillance systems, the testimonies, the recognition made by one of the victims, the observation services and the analysis of the printouts made it possible to gather a circumstantial framework, which resulted in the arrest order.
