According to data from the Ministry of Health, one in six Italians has contracted Covid. However, from the latest surveys, the country is facing a phase of "clear decrease of the epidemic", with all parameters (such as transmissibility index Rt and incidence) in decline.

The Omicron variant has become almost exclusive but there is an increasing insistence on the fourth dose of vaccine for immunosuppressed people, even if the optimal timing is "in the definition phase", as confirmed by Nicola Magrini, director general of AIFA, and shortly will arrive the opinion of the Agency of the drug.

The additional dose, Magrini explained, could bring some benefit to transplant patients or leukemic patients, by increasing antibodies. But in view of the summer, the forecasts remain good thanks to widespread immunity and it will be at that point that it will be possible to decide whether to make a mass recall necessary or only partial.
