A ski mountaineer from Piedmont, from Turin, is the victim of the fatal accident that occurred yesterday morning on the French side of the Mont Blanc massif.
The man fell approximately 700 metres from the north face of the Aiguille du Midi: the cause of the accident was a "technical error".
With two companions, yesterday morning he had set off from the Aiguille du Midi to practice steep skiing. Around 8:30, after tackling the first slopes, the thirty-one-year-old slipped. Thus began his long fall, which also led him to overcome a serac.
The other two members of the group raised the alarm. Arriving on site by helicopter, the rescue gendarmes of the Pghm of Chamonix (France) found the body on a moraine, at about 3,000 meters above sea level: they could do nothing but recover the body, since the thirty-one-year-old did not survive the fall.
