He was extradited from Spain and is now in Italy one of the suspects subjected to a precautionary measure as part of the major operation "Millennium," coordinated by the Reggio Calabria District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

The man, charged with aggravated drug trafficking conspiracy, was abroad at the time the warrants were executed.

The intervention of the I-Can (Interpol Cooperation Against 'Ndrangheta) Unit of the International Police Cooperation Service was decisive in the capture.

Thanks to the information provided by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri in Reggio Calabria , the Unit established contact with international authorities and, in collaboration with the Udyco Central of the Spanish National Police, made it possible to locate and arrest the wanted man.

The arrest and subsequent extradition are part of Operation Millennium, which began on May 21 in several Italian regions .

At dawn that day, hundreds of Carabinieri – with the support of the ROS, the Helicopter Hunter Squadron, the 14th Calabria Battalion, the Canine Units, the Helicopter Unit and the I-CAN Unit itself – had executed a provision that included 97 precautionary measures (81 in prison and 16 under house arrest) and the seizure of two companies believed to be linked to criminal activities.

The investigation, launched in 2018 and divided into five investigative strands, implicated alleged top members of the Reggio Calabria clans operating in the three districts (Tyrrhenian, Ionian, and Central). The charges range from mafia association to international drug trafficking, including extortion, kidnapping, political-mafia vote-rigging, and weapons possession.
