Off-piste avalanche above Courmayeur: two dead, one seriously injured

The provisional toll from the avalanche that broke loose this morning in the Vesses couloir , in Val Veny, above Courmayeur , overwhelming a group of freeride skiers , is two dead and one seriously injured .
The third ski mountaineer is in very serious condition and has been transported to Le Molinette in Turin. No other people were reported to have been involved in the search and rescue operations. The investigation into the incident has been entrusted to the Guardia di Finanza in Entreves.
The victims are presumably French. Fifteen rescuers, including technicians from the Aosta Valley Alpine Rescue team and financial police, two doctors, three canine units, two helicopters, and two 118 ambulances, responded to the scene.
