There is a general agreement between the various government forces on the shops that can be entered without a Green pass, neither a base nor a reinforced one, starting from February 1st: grocery stores, health sector stores, supermarkets, opticians, retailers of pellets or wood for heating, products for animals, fuels, markets and outdoor newsstands.
Bookstores remain outside the list of exceptions while the discussion on shopping centers is still open: the solution that is being worked on would include the possibility of accessing the structures even for those who do not have a pass but only to go to those shops that fall within the 'list of those exempted, therefore supermarkets and pharmacies. The basic pass will also be needed at the tobacconist's: items for sale are not considered "essential".
THE COLORS - Meanwhile, the current color system risks making some territories go back to orange or red: in the country there are already eight regions over the 20% occupancy threshold for Covid ICU beds (among these Lazio, Tuscany and Piedmont) while in the ordinary departments the national average rises to 29%, with Lombardy at 34, Sicily at 35, Calabria at 41 and Valle d'Aosta at 69%. Sardinia, on the other hand , is making great strides towards yellow .
On the issue, the executive showed an openness by announcing a technical table with the governors not yet scheduled, as well as in the coming weeks (probably after January) at the request of the same Regions, the color system could be revised, or even eliminated. "I believe that a reflection can absolutely be made on this, because it is right, in front of 90% of Italians vaccinated, to give perspectives to citizens", explains the Undersecretary for Health, Andrea Costa, who also returns to the hypothesis of canceling the asymptomatic from the calculation of the positives in the bulletin, despite the negative orientation already shown by the CTS.
"In the coming weeks it is destined to change and I think it is more a political choice than a scientific choice. It will help not to feed the no vax message", explains the undersecretary, who on quarantines for students adds: " class all those who have been vaccinated ".
VACCINES - On the administration front, in the last week there was a record of inoculations: from 10 to 16 January the doses made were 4.5 million (4.536.748), a level never reached so far, which has exceeded by almost half million the previous record. Most of the injections involved the third dose.
With regard to the first administrations (including those of children 5-11), after 93 thousand on Saturday, on Sunday there were over 62 thousand, despite the public holiday. While the country is aiming for 90% of immunized people, the debate on the fourth dose is reopening - at the moment it is thought it may be intended for fragile people - and on the possible validity of a specific vaccine against Omicron. For Israel, leader in the experimentation of anti-Covid serum, even a second booster with Pfizer and Moderna would not offer "sufficient" protection from the infection of the new variant.
