From the autopsy on the little body of the two-month-old baby who died two days ago in Rome at the Gemelli Polyclinic - where he had been transferred by air ambulance from Foggia - no signs of ill-treatment or shaking syndrome would have emerged.
The little one had head injuries but the examination highlighted "a single head injury compatible with falling from the stroller", explains Michele Sodrio, the mother's lawyer, a 46-year-old from Foggia under investigation for manslaughter.
In short, the lawyer underlines that the results would confirm the initially widespread version, namely the fall from the stroller.
Now the histological tests will be carried out, the results of which are expected within 60 days.
The accident took place on 17 June in Vico del Gargano where the woman had gone to visit relatives together with her little son: «She is a single girl who in recent months has made a courageous and extraordinary choice, that of having a child with the heterologous fertilization. I hope that this terrible story ends as soon as possible also because my client is destroyed by pain », concludes the lawyer. The funeral of the newborn will take place in the next few days.
