Emanuele Savino and Anna Gammella, aged 26 and 19, were arrested , the parents of the newborn who died in the cot on 2 September in Santa Maria a Vico , in the Caserta area, due to the burns she received after bathing at home.

The Carabinieri have implemented the precautionary measure issued by the investigating judge of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. In fact, the investigations revealed that Savino violently hit the newborn, just 45 days old, on the head, causing fractures to her skull and face . These blows, together with the burns caused by the boiling bath, would have caused the little girl's death.

Suspicions immediately focused on the two, registered in the register of suspects for murder and abuse. The autopsy and the messages exchanged in chat have definitively framed them. The couple has two other young children, both taken from their parents .

Furthermore, the two never subjected the child to medical examinations and resorted to do-it-yourself treatments, even using lard as an ointment to heal the wounds . It was precisely from the chats that the newborn's state of total abandonment emerged.

When she was found dead in the crib last September 2, the parents explained to the police, who had found bruises, burns and lesions on the newborn's body, that their daughter had fallen asleep after having a bath, without waking up, and that the pediatrician contacted by them, she advised him to use an ointment for burns.
