« He wanted to live without me . I gave her, I don't know, about ten, twelve, thirteen blows with the knife. I wanted to hit her in the neck, shoulders, head, face and then arms. She was facing up at me. She protected herself with her arms where I was hitting her . The last stab I gave her was in the eye. It was as if he wasn't there anymore." This was stated by Filippo Turetta, the boy accused of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Giulia Cecchettin . The confessions arrived in the Verona prison on December 1st, before the Venice prosecutor Andrea Petroni. These words and the story of the murder in the interrogation report, made known last night by the program "Quarto Grado", broadcast on Rete 4.

After the attack "I put her in the back seat and we left" , continues Turetta who, that evening, after spending hours with Giulia in a shopping center in Maghera, had brought her home. There - before saying goodbye - the attempt to give her gifts, rejected . So an argument broke out, followed by the tragic death of the biomedical engineering graduate student.

Then the confession: « I tried to suffocate myself with a bag . But after tying it with tape I couldn't do it and I tore it off at the end. So I took her and went to hide her." The body of the 22-year-old was found only seven days later, in the province of Pordenone, almost 100 kilometers from her home. «I didn't have the courage to end it – the boy continues -. I wanted to take my own life with a knife I bought but I couldn't." The change of heart after reading the online news about him, of his parents' hope of finding him still alive: "I resigned myself not to commit suicide and be arrested", he concludes.
