Four people were arrested by the police for the huge theft of 800 thousand euros carried out last October in the heart of Rome, in a jewelery shop in via Bocca di Leone. Another 4 suspects are subject to the obligation to report to the barracks.

The three perpetrators of the theft and a woman who allegedly took out pawn policies to replace the stolen jewels with cash are in handcuffs. The preventive seizure, aimed at confiscation, of jewels and trinkets for 120 thousand euros has been ordered.

The thieves went into action on the night between 2 and 3 October, a stone's throw from Piazza di Spagna, through a hole made in the wall made by one of the walls of the building adjacent to the shop. The two men who made the hole in the neighboring wall and opened the safe with the blowtorch ended up in prison while the "post" of the robbery is under house arrest. This is a 65-year-old Roman, already involved in investigations for thefts using the hole technique, including one twenty years ago in a villa in Porto Cervo, and two brothers aged 57 and 55, one of whom has no criminal record and is above suspicion. A woman was also arrested for receiving stolen goods and money laundering. She would have taken care of pawning the jewels in exchange for money.

According to what has been reconstructed, immediately after the theft the perpetrators divided the loot. Some have entrusted it to faithful fences, in other cases, however, the stolen goods have been "monetised" by committing them to specialized companies or sold to Compro oro when the objects were destined for melting to obtain small ingots. Around 400 pieces of jewellery, precious stones, diamonds and watches were recovered and seized. They were partly recognized by the owner of the jewelry store.
