On January 16, police arrested a Peruvian citizen born in 2006 who had been on the run for some time as he was wanted internationally for the murder of his girlfriend.
The arrest was carried out by the Rome Flying Squad following a tip-off and instigation from the Service for International Police Cooperation, which forwarded the Interpol Red Notice, which was issued based on the order issued by the Peruvian Judicial Authority.
The wanted man is in fact subject to a precautionary custody order issued on November 20, 2025, by the Superior Court of Justice of La Libertad (Peru) for the murder, committed as a minor, of his girlfriend, whose body was found, in a state of decomposition and missing papillary ridges, on March 27, 2022.
The location of the fugitive is the result of a complex information-investigative effort developed as part of the "Wanted" project, promoted and coordinated by the Central Operations Service of the police, also in collaboration with the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police. The Rome Flying Squad was involved in the fieldwork, developing the report and conducting targeted searches.
Following investigations and ongoing surveillance and shadowing, the wanted man was located, along with several members of his family, inside an apartment in the Pietralata area.
The Peruvian citizen was taken to Rebibbia prison to be held by the Attorney General's Office at the Rome Court of Appeal for the upcoming extradition proceedings to Peru.
