A man and a woman were found dead in a house in Montesilvano, in the province of Pescara.
The causes are not known at the moment, but the hypothesis under consideration is that of a murder-suicide case.
According to preliminary information, it would be a couple of about 50 years and the tragedy would have consumed in the night: the neighbors would have sounded the alarm, after hearing screams.
The couple also have a 10-year-old son, who was in school at the time of the tragedy and has now been placed in social services.
"It is a tragedy that has deeply affected our city. I would never have wanted to learn such a fact, a terrible bloody affair that upset the entire community of Montesilvano", the mayor Ottavio De Martinis commented.
"At the moment the investigators are ascertaining the dynamics of the gesture, which prompted a man to murder his wife and then to kill himself. A tragedy - says the mayor - that broke up a family".
"The neighborhood that knew the victims - continues the mayor - speaks of very good people, appreciated by all. I cling to the pain of the families of the two victims, expressing their condolences and closeness".
