Laura's uncle Ettore Pausini was hit and killed on his bike: the hit-and-run car was found.

Ettore Pausini, 78-year-old uncle of singer Laura, was hit and killed yesterday by a hit-and-run driver in Bologna while he was riding his bicycle .

The man, originally from Solarolo (Ravenna), like the singer's family, lived in Bologna. The car was found this morning by the Carabinieri two kilometers from the accident site. The owner was identified by local police, but stated he was not the driver.

Efforts are currently underway to identify the driver. The car, as far as we know, does not appear to have been stolen.

The accident occurred yesterday just before 1:30 PM. According to preliminary reconstructions, the man was cycling along the road when he was violently struck by a car that failed to stop to provide assistance. Emergency medical services and law enforcement responded to the scene. The man's condition immediately appeared critical: emergency responders attempted to revive him, including with the support of a paramedic who arrived by helicopter, but all efforts were in vain . The elderly man died at the scene.
