The "Last Captain", alias Sergio De Caprio, the carabiniere who led the operations for the capture of Totò Riina in January 1993, revealed his face for the first time in years today at the Quirino theater in Rome, showing himself with the usual balaclava with whom he has always been interviewed.
The occasion was the formalization of his candidacy for the European elections for "Libertà", the list created by Cateno De Luca. "I uncover my face for the elections as an act of love," De Caprio explained from the stage. "This is how I did my job as a policeman, this is how I will face this electoral campaign."
De Caprio, born in 1961, led the Crimor unit of the Carabinieri ROS and, with the rank of colonel, was deputy commander of the Carabinieri Command for Environmental Protection in Rome.
