The music world is in mourning: James Senese, saxophonist and longtime collaborator of Pino Daniele, the authentic voice of a multi-ethnic and authentic Naples, has died. The artist passed away last night at Cardarelli Hospital in Naples from a serious lung infection. He was 80 years old.

Son of a Neapolitan woman and an African-American soldier from North Carolina, almost a living version of the “Tammurriata nera”, he founded Napoli Centrale but his multifaceted career remains linked to his partnership with Pino Daniele, including the famous album “Nero a metà”.
