"My son will have to take responsibility, but he's not a monster. I'd like to speak to Davide Iacopini's mother and apologize."
This was stated in an interview with the newspaper La Repubblica by the mother of one of the two "minicar boys" accused of attacking some passers-by in Rome , including the actor Davide Iacopini, who is hospitalized in serious condition.
"That minicar isn't ours, we can't afford a minicar, but rich or poor, you can't escape what life throws at you. My son was in that car, I've known about it since Tuesday night, unfortunately, and now we have to deal with it," he adds.
"I went to the police station with the other boy's mother; we were the ones who got them admitted. I spent the whole night with him, talking to him, trying to understand," the woman continued.
And again: "My son told me that they intended it to be a prank: to scare passersby. They shouldn't have played those pranks, they shouldn't have. At the time, they didn't realize how serious it was. After reading what had happened, they were terrified."
Now, she concluded, speaking of her son, "he cries constantly. He told me he dreamed about that boy, Iacopini, and his mother."
