"My client is very sorry, it is a huge tragedy. He cannot understand how it could have happened and offers his condolences to the woman's family." These are the words of the lawyer Vittorio Manes of the Forlì bar, who is defending Lerry Gnoli, the driver of the bulldozer that yesterday hit and killed the sixty-six year old Elisa Spadavecchia, on the beach in Pinarella di Cervia .

"He's been doing this job for 35 years," adds the lawyer of the fifty-four-year-old. The tragedy occurred yesterday in the late morning: according to an initial reconstruction, the bulldozer was tidying up and cleaning the beach in preparation for the bathing season . It remains to be seen how it hit Spadavecchia, with the tragic accident occurring in front of other bathers.

The aim of the investigators, the chief prosecutor Daniele Barberini and the prosecutor Lucrezia Ciriello, who are coordinating the investigations of the Carabinieri, is to ascertain why the driver of the vehicle was there and who had given him the task, a circumstance that at the moment has not yet been fully clarified. At that point, any further responsibilities will be assessed. In the next few days, investigations will also be carried out on the seized vehicle and probably an autopsy .
