After a car accident in 2019, he woke up believing he was in 1980, convinced he was still 24 years old, without recognizing his wife and children and unaware of what had happened in the following 40 years. This is the incredible story of Luciano D'Adamo , a Roman, told this morning in the Messaggero.
D'Adamo remembers well, we read in the newspaper, what he did on March 20, 1980 : he was 24 years old and after returning from work he was hit by a car , in Monte Mario. But when he woke up in the hospital " a stranger entered the room ", his wife . "She called me Luciano - he explains -. And I wondered how she knew my name".
Then a 35-year-old man, his son, introduced himself to him: "But how could a man born much earlier than me be my son? And then what wife? I wasn't married, but engaged to a 19-year-old girl, in fact the marriage had already been arranged, we were going to get married four months later...".
The shock in the mirror: the 24-year-old boy had become a 6.3-year-old man. This is how they explained to him, the Messaggero reports, "that the accident had not occurred in Monte Mario but in via delle Fornaci, and not in 1980 but in 2019. A head trauma had made him lose the memory of the last 39 years of his life ."
Luciano therefore "did not know what cell phones were, he did not know that he had won two championships as a Roma fan and two World Cups as an Italian, he did not know about Totti and Berlusconi, about Tangentopoli and September 11th" and "he suddenly found himself in a science fiction universe".
"Luciano - writes the Messaggero - has now understood that almost all of his life as an adult man has been lost and he will never get it back. He has not given up: he has learned little by little to live and work in a completely new world. Now he works as a maintenance worker in a school. With the help of psychologists, he and his wife are rebuilding a relationship that had to start from scratch. He has never received compensation because the hit-and-run driver who hit him was never found."
