In the throes of a sleepwalking attack he attempted to kill his wife who was sleeping next to him. Then, when he woke up and realized what he had just done, in shock he threw himself from the balcony of his house on the second floor, miraculously saving himself.

The protagonist of the story - which took place on 4 January 2021 - is a 58-year-old from the province of Brescia, who is now on trial for attempted murder.

According to the Carabinieri's investigations, the man, a worker, acted in the throes of a sudden somnambulism which clouded his conscience for a few minutes.

“I had no intention of killing,” was his version. When he was discharged from hospital, he was notified of a ban on approaching his wife, who became a civil party in the trial.

During the investigations, an expert opinion ordered by the investigating judge established his full capacity of understanding and will at the time of the facts and, therefore, his imputability.
