New appeal trial for Marco Eletti.

The Court of Cassation decided this by annulling - with referral to appeal - the sentence of 24 years and two months against the 36-year-old, former contestant of L'Eredità, for the premeditated murder of his father and the attempted murder of his mother, on February 24, 2021 in San Martino in Rio, in the Reggio Emilia area.

Eletti, a self-confessed criminal, had been convicted in both the first and second degree trials for having killed his 58-year-old father, Paolo, with a hammer in the family home and had tried to kill his mother Sabrina Guidetti, who survived after being found drugged and with her wrists slit next to her husband's body that same day.

Among the aggravating circumstances contested by the prosecution was also that of the family relationship with the victim, which however fell in the preliminary hearing after the DNA revealed that Paolo was not Marco's biological father. According to the prosecution, the motive was to be traced back to the discovery of a double life linked to another gender identity of the father.

But also to issues related to the family home that the parents did not want to leave, but that the son wanted to inherit right away . Premeditation had been recognized both by the judges of Reggio and by the judges on appeal, but it was always denied by the defense. Even before the ermines, defense lawyers Domenico Noris Bucchi and Luigi Scarcella reiterated that only the attack on the mother had been planned, but not that on the father. And that the crime had arisen from an impulsive gesture.
