A 23-year-old boy, Giuseppe Russo, died in the intensive care unit of the Policlinico of Bari after more than a month of agony following complications from the bite of a violin spider .

The young man was cleaning a field for the company he worked for last July 13 in Collepasso (province of Lecce), when he was bitten on the right leg by a violin spider. At first he thought it was a mosquito bite, but the welt gradually grew larger and larger and he began to feel severe pain.

An abscess formed on the young man's leg, causing the limb to necrose. The 23-year-old died of septic shock and multiple organ failure .

Giuseppe Russo, given the worsening of his conditions, went to the hospital. Hospitalized first in Tricase and then in Lecce, the situation worsened last night when it was decided to transfer him to Bari where unfortunately he died this morning at dawn.
