The leader of the M5S Giuseppe Conte attacked by a member of the No Vax movement.

It happened in Massa, during an electoral event. The former premier began the usual handshake in the crowd that had gathered, when an unknown person approached and, pretending to want to shake his hand, hit him on the face and began to rail against the containment and protection measures introduced during the pandemic emergency. The attacker was later removed by the police.

“Dissent is legitimate, but this violent demonstration goes beyond the democratic context,” commented the pentastellato president after the episode.

The incident was also condemned by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: «I express solidarity with the president of the M5s, Giuseppe Conte. All forms of violence must be condemned without hesitation. Dissent must be civil and respectful of individuals and political groups,” said the Prime Minister.
