On Chiara Ferragni 's social networks, her capsule collection in collaboration with the Oreo brand was accompanied by a charity initiative. But according to the company Mondelez Italia , owner of the brand, the project with the entrepreneur did not involve any donation . Codacons explains this in a note, after the details provided by the company to the consumer association regarding «the solidarity initiative started in 2020 by Chiara Ferragni, when the influencer advertised through Instagram a collection made up of a few coordinated items created in collaboration with the Oreo company."

«With the initiative, Ferragni – continues Codacons – had promised that “ 100% of the proceeds from the sales of these clothes would go to charity for initiatives against the coronavirus ”. The association reports the letter from Mondelez Italia Services Srl: «The collaboration agreement between Oreo and Chiara Ferragni entailed that Mrs. Chiara Ferragni designed a limited edition packaging of Oreo Double, on sale from March 2020 for a short period and sold by us to large retailers at the same sales price of the standard product. At the same time - we read further - a capsule collection (limited edition clothing line portraying the Oreo biscuit) was created under the Oreo by Chiara Ferragni brand. The "Oreo by Chiara Ferragni" capsule collection included a part used as a competition prize “Free your Oreo style” in 2020, and as such not for sale, and another dedicated part, sold directly by Mrs. Chiara Ferragni through its own channels».

Following «the Covid emergency - continues the company - Mrs. Chiara Ferragni decided independently, outside the existing commercial agreement, to donate the amount deriving from the proceeds from the sale of part of the capsule collection to charity in his availability. Having learned of his decision to proceed in this direction, Oreo also decided to make a donation to the same organization (Cesvi in favor of the Coronavirus emergency). For more detailed information regarding the aforementioned sale of the capsule collection and the related donation - concludes the letter - we therefore invite you to contact Mrs Chiara Ferragni directly".

Codacons asked the entrepreneur's companies and the Ministry of Labour, responsible for fundraising, all the details regarding the donation made, to understand the extent of the sales of the capsule collection, the sums allocated to charity, the date and the method of donation. But in the event of no response - underlines the association - " a new complaint will be inevitable ".
