A father pushed and punched his daughter's elementary school teacher in front of the girl and others inside the school . The attack, reported today by the newspaper Libertà, occurred in Piacenza during school hours.

According to the reconstruction, the young Italian man showed up at the school entrance to pick up his daughter before the end of class. When the teacher explained that he needed to fill out a formal authorization form to do so, he became aggressive .

He first grabbed the teacher and then punched her. The teacher had to seek emergency medical care and, after receiving treatment, filed a complaint with the school principal . The Piacenza local police are handling the case.

The Gilda Insegnanti union of Parma and Piacenza will join the man's case as a civil party. Coordinator Salvatore Pizzo stated in a statement, noting that "violence and threats against a public official (such as state school teachers) are punishable by up to five years in prison, increased to seven years and six months when the attack is inflicted on teachers by parents . This specific aggravating circumstance was recently introduced into the penal code."

The union hopes that "the school administration will provide all possible support to the attacked teacher" and expects the perpetrator of the attack to receive "an exemplary punishment" .
