A breakthrough has been reached in the investigation into the case of Luigi Alberti, the 85-year-old man found dead at home on October 25, 2025.
Carabinieri from the Piacenza Investigative Unit executed a precautionary custody order in Castelsangiovanni issued by the Piacenza preliminary investigations judge at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office against Alberti's wife and son.
"The investigation," the Carabinieri report, "has revealed a picture of severe and prolonged suffering inflicted on the elderly man. The suspects are seriously suspected of complicity in mistreatment and kidnapping (both family members) and aggravated voluntary manslaughter (a charge brought exclusively against the victim's son) ."
