Two firefighters from the Cremona Command were hit by a car this morning along the Paullese, in the territory of Grumello Cremonese, while they were busy on the side of the road putting out the fire of a car that had caught fire on its own.
Their conditions are not serious. According to the reconstruction by the carabinieri, the firefighters were on the edge of the roadway and a long line of cars had formed waiting for the intervention to conclude.
One of the drivers in the queue, a 75-year-old man driving a Citroen, allegedly overtook the stopped vehicles and hit the two firefighters, hitting them in the legs. One, aged 37, suffered fractures and the other, aged 23, various bruises. Both were rescued by 118 and taken to hospital in Cremona. The position of the elderly driver of the small car is being examined by the Carabinieri.
