A large and high, at least several kilometers, eruptive cloud dominates Etna.

According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology Etnean Observatory of Catania, it was caused by a pyroclastic flow probably produced by a collapse of material on the northern flank of the South-East crater.

The hot material, from preliminary observations, seems not to have passed the rim of the Valle del Leone. At the same time, the explosive activity from the Southeast crater has changed to a lava fountain. The volcanic tremor has reached very high values. The centroid of the sources is in the area of the Southeast crater.
