The death toll has risen to three following the dawn collapse of a building on Via Trentino in Porto Sant'Elpidio (Fermo), likely caused by an explosion caused by a gas leak. In addition to 47-year-old Giuseppe Pieroni, a computer scientist who was found dead immediately after his death, the body of 89-year-old Ettorina Paccapelo, who had been missing for over nine hours, was also found.
Meanwhile, the elderly woman's son, Romano Cerquetti, 60, who had been pulled alive from the rubble, also died in Ancona.
The 47-year-old's parents, Savino Pieroni, 89, and his wife Vittoria Lanciotti, 70, were injured and hospitalized in Torrette di Ancona.
