Antonio De Marco , the young student confessed to the murder of the referee Daniele De Santis and his girlfriend Eleonora Manta, both 30 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The crime took place on the evening of 21 September 2020 in the house of the two in Lecce, in via Mondello, a house that the couple had shared with the murderer for months . De Marco, a 21-year-old nursing student at the time, was arrested a week later.

The judges of the Court of Assizes of Lecce therefore accepted the request of the Prosecutor. De Marco stabbed the two to death " because they were beautiful and happy ," he told investigators confessing the double murder without being able to give a real reason.

THE WORRING DIARY OF DE MARCO

Some disturbing phrases in his diary . "Wednesday I had a seizure while I was holding a pillow, I thought that unlike me the others hug real girls and so I burst into tears. I bought some tools ... I want to kill someone, I want to tear them apart. I accepted the room. , in the same house as F., and I already have the keys and from here when I go away I will be able to kill Daniele ... I would like a woman first, but I think this will be a good starting point ". So he wrote more than a month before the crime, obviously premeditated.

THE PARENTS OF THE VICTIMS

Daniele De Santis' father struggles to say he is satisfied, despite the maximum sentence for the murderer: " No sentence will ever fill the void he left", are his only words.

Today in the bunker classroom of Lecce there was also Eleonora's mother, who after hearing the sentence covered her face with her hands and burst into tears , then was accompanied to a room where she stayed for a long time. .

Absent De Marco, who never physically participated in the hearings of the trial.
