Assault on armored vehicles in Tuscany, all bandits are Sardinians: investigations towards the Island

The members of the commando that late yesterday afternoon, Friday 28 March, attacked two armored vehicles along the Aurelia variant in
San Vincenzo, in the province of Livorno . Ten, maybe eleven men, who are being hunted down without interruption by all the police forces in the area. A closed, non-modular group. Almost armored.
This is the thesis of the Tuscan investigators, according to what has leaked out about the investigations, conducted in the utmost secrecy and on a wide scale. Up to Sardinia: all movements to and from the Island in recent times are being examined. The period considered backwards is not short. But it is not excluded that the robbery could have been carried out by Sardinians, yes, but not residents of the Island.
Only investigative hypotheses, at the moment. Testimonies have been collected and videos of the assault, made by some residents of the area, have been analyzed.
The robbers' Sardinian accent was unmistakable. And their knowledge of the territory was very precise: the bandits acted in a place where the roadway was narrowed due to a construction site. To block the armored vehicles, they used some vehicles that had been stolen in recent days from a car rental company based in Castelnuovo Berardenga (Siena): one in front and one in the back. Then the attack, lightning-fast: about twenty shots were fired from war weapons. The bandits made the guards get out of the vehicles and placed the explosives inside the passenger compartment, blowing off the hood and making it easy to remove the bags of money that were destined for Grosseto.
Military explosive, apparently, very similar to the one used to knock down the wall of the Mondialpol vault in Caniga, in Sassari, last June 24. A millionaire hit, the one from last summer, that came to mind for many. As well as the one in Siligo, carried out the previous February. Many common features, for the methods and behavior of the criminals, that the investigators are analyzing carefully.
The only trace of the bandits, so far, is one of the three cars used to escape south: the vehicle, a Volvo SUV, was found in a field in the Pisan hinterland, as the crow flies not far from the site of the assault. The manhunt continues.
