Definitive turning point in the cold case of Anna Todde , the 49-year-old originally from Goni but residing in Turin, who died 20 years ago in Austria .
For her murder - after 15 years - her boyfriend, Brahim Aboulakjam, a 48-year-old Moroccan, was sentenced to life imprisonment , recently in Vallette for a 4-year sentence for drug dealing. The traces of DNA found on the victim's body framed the man .
The semi-charred body of the woman was found on the evening of October 4, 2008 on the banks of the Drava river, in the Austrian town of Völkermarkt. According to the autopsy examinations, Todde had first been strangled, shot 4 times in the head and chest, then set on fire. Before his death he also allegedly had sexual intercourse , probably with his killer. The couple, probably in crisis at the time, were in Austria for a "reconciliatory" holiday. The car in which they were travelling, the recipient of a parking ban fine in January 2009 in Udine, was then resold in Turin.
The identification, difficult due to the conditions of the body, was possible thanks to the cast of the teeth with a particular prosthesis that is used almost exclusively in a studio in the Turin area. The man - immediately - had declared himself innocent. But at trial, before the judges - and in the face of the numerous evidence against him -, he was declared guilty and sentenced.
