"They weren't aggressive, but they were very confident in what they were doing; they were counting on our fear." This is the story of one of the hostages in yesterday's daring robbery in Naples at a Credit Agricole branch in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. The bank was "stormed" by account holders, especially those holding safety deposit boxes, who lined up to check on their accounts after the robbery.
Meanwhile, law enforcement is continuing its investigation into the incident. The bandits, reportedly five in number, are still on the run, and investigators believe they planned everything down to the smallest detail. "It was a robbery carried out by highly skilled professionals, planned for months," said Naples Mayor Manfredi.
The investigators' investigations are also focusing on a possible insider and aiming to reconstruct the route taken by the robbers, who, after holding the customers hostage and cleaning out the safety deposit boxes, then managed to escape into the sewers.
A tunnel was dug with evidently meticulous and particularly long and drawn-out work. This work was evidently carried out by expert hands who managed to complete the excavation without anyone noticing.
