A car struck two young men, killing one, and fled the scene. It happened overnight in Guidonia Montecelio, near Rome.

According to reconstructions, the car hit the two boys who were walking on the side of the road after leaving a local bar, and then continued on its way and disappeared.

A 23-year-old student, Matteo D'Ambrosio, died despite attempts by emergency medical personnel to resuscitate him. The other student, the same age, was injured.

Hours after the tragedy, the driver of the car turned himself in to the Carabinieri station: he is a 26-year-old worker who tested positive for alcohol. He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to provide assistance.
