The Italian population is destined to drastically decline.

This is Istat's latest forecast on the demographic future of the Bel Paese, characterized, as mentioned, by a significant decrease.

According to estimates by the National Institute of Statistics, the Italian population will go from 59 million recorded on January 1, 2022 to 58.1 million in 2030.

Then another decline: 54.4 million in 2050 and even in 2080 it will drop to 45.8 million inhabitants.

Again according to forecasts, there will be a growth in families but with an increasingly smaller average number of members.

Furthermore, fewer couples with children and more couples without children : by 2042 - according to Istat forecasts - only one family in four will be made up of a couple with children, more than one in five will not have any.
