Insularity is the essential point on which to focus for the development of Sardinia. And the reasons for close political and institutional collaboration between the special commission for the recognition of the principle of insularity was reaffirmed in a meeting between the parliamentarian chaired by Michele Cossa (Sardinian reformers) and those elected on the island in the last general elections .

In particular, the discussion focused on the opportunity to promote joint initiatives and advance, in Montecitorio and Palazzo Madama, shared legislative proposals aimed at recognizing Sardinia's representation in the European Parliament.

To underline the importance of the meeting and of the topics covered, the intervention of the president of the Regional Council, Michele Pais who, in recalling the success of the battle for insularity, emphasized the fundamental question of the Sardinian presence in the assembly of Strasbourg. In summary: the invitation that President Cossa extended to ladies and senators was to present one or more bills to the Chamber and Senate aimed at guaranteeing the election of two representatives of Sardinia.

Full adhesion to the initiative was expressed by the deputy of FdI, and president of the Transport commission, Salvatore Deidda (former presenter of a Pl for the establishment of the Sardinia constituency for the European elections); by the vice president of the Justice Commission, the deputy of Fi, Pietro Pittalis ("but it is necessary to take account of the times because the elections are set for June 2024") and by the pentastellato Emiliano Fenu ("it would be useful to formalize the constitution of an intergroup of parliamentarians Sardinians»). The 5 Star deputy, Alessandra Todde, insisted on the need to "make the principle of insularity real" and to "work to ensure that this principle is raised to the cornerstone of all public policies aimed at Sardinia". Senator Sabrina Licheri (M5S) , in reiterating the "fundamental importance of the Sardinian representation in Brussels" returned to the theme of insularity to clarify that "it can never be understood as a subtraction of resources and opportunities to other disadvantaged Regions", while the he elected member of the Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, Francesca Ghirra, "appreciated the harmony that exists between the parliamentarians and the common commitment to the island" . A convinced yes to Michele Cossa's proposal also came from the deputy of the Brothers of Italy, Francesco Mura who, in taking leave of the Regional Council, defined the approval of the constitutional law for the recognition of the principle of insularity as "the best of the legislature".

Before the conclusion of the work, the expert in electoral systems, Abramo Garau, then illustrated a series of legislative suggestions to make the parliamentary proposals more effective in guaranteeing the representation of Sardinia in the European Parliament.
