"It is a source of great pride for me and for my party to be nominated president of the bicameral commission on insularity". These are the words of Tommaso Calderone, deputy and group leader of Forza Italia in the Justice Commission.

"I thank Forza Italia, the majority parties and those who have placed their trust in me," added Calderone. "This centre-right government is the first to give a further and concrete signal in contrasting the disadvantages deriving from insularity with the establishment of this Commission - which will be made up of ten deputies and ten senators appointed by the presidents of the respective Chambers - and will have the task of reducing the chronic gap of our Islands: Sardinia, Sicily and smaller islands compared to the mainland".

«I will guarantee - assured Calderone - the utmost commitment right from the start to address the problems of our Islands which, I remind you, have full recognition of them in our Constitution, which recognizes the peculiarities of the Islands and promotes all the necessary measures to remove the disadvantages deriving from insularity".
